    HISTORY OF GADAG DISTRICT :

    Gadag is a major part of the ancient history of India and was earlier under the Chalukyan rule. The ancient history of Gadag is depicted in the ancient temples and structures located here that have a unique architectural style. Travellers will find a section dedicated to Gadag in most of the travel journals because of its ancient heritage.Some ancient attractions here include the Trikuteshwara temple complex that has three shrines of Shiva, Brahma and Surya. Some of the finest and rare decorative pillars are located at the Saraswathi temple, which is an example of ancient Chalukya art.The Veeranarayana temple here is an ancient temple belonging to the Chalukya era and has associations with the popular poet Kumara Vyasa . Other attractions here include the biodiversity spot of Karnataka, Magadi Bird Sanctuary and Magadi Tank, which is located in Magadi Village of Gadag.

    ABOUT GADAG :

    Initially the Gadag was a taluka place in Dharwad District and got separated from Dharwad and became an Independent District place on 24.08.1997 with its sister city Betageri. The Gadag District has a Municipal Council by name Gadag-Betigeri and have a combined city Administration. Gadag is situated in Northern part of Karnataka which is situated 80KM far from Dharwad, 56KM from Hubli, 435KM from Bengaluru and lies on the Gutti Vasco National Highway.

    Padma Bhushan Dr. Pandit Puttaraj Shri Kavi Gawai (3 March 1914 – 17 September 2010) was an Indian musician in the Hindustani Classical tradition, a scholar who authored more than 80 books in Kannada, Sanskrit and Hindi, a music teacher and a social servant and was a blind singer from Karnataka who made a great difference to the life of many blind people in Indian society. A member of the Gwalior Gharana (school), he is renowned for his ability to play many instruments such as the veena, the tabla, mridangam, violin etc., as well as for his popular renditions of devotional music (bhajans) vachanas. A famous vocalist both in Hindustani and Karnataka Music. He is the recipient of the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian honour, awarded in 2008. And also called as “Ubhaya Gayana Visharada”, “Ganayogi”, “Kavishiromani”, “Thribhasha KaviRathna”.

    ABOUT GADAG COURTS :

    1. The Prl.District & Sessions Court, Gadag is established as per G.O.No.LAW 18 LCE 97 Bengaluru dated 02.12.1999 and started functioning w.e.f.30.09.2000 and As per G.O.NO.LAW 68 LAC 2005 Bengaluru dated.08.09.2005 District and Sessions Court, Gadag was Sanctioned as permanent Court.
    2. The Addl.District and Sessions Court, Gadag is established as per G.O. No.LAW 112 LCE 2012 Bengaluru dated 28.12.2012 and started functioning w.e.f 01-06-2013.
    3. The Family Court, Gadag is established as per G.O. No.LAW 113 LCE 2012.Bengaluru dated 11.12.2012 and started functioning w.e.f 06-06-2013. The I Addl. Prl. Judge,Family Court, Gadag established as per G.O No. LAW 113 LCE 2012 and started functioning
    4. The Senior Civil Judge & CJM Court, Gadag is established and functioning as a permanent Court.
    5. The Prl.Civil Judge Court, Gadag is established and started functioning w.e.f .01-06-1869.
    6. I Additional Civil Judge & JMFC -I Court, Gadag and II Additional Civil Judge & JMFC-II Court, Gadag are established and are functioning as a permanent Courts.
    7. The Prl.Civil Judge & JMFC Court, Ron, Laxmeshar, Mundargi and Naragund are established and functioning as a permanent Courts.
    8. The Addl. Senior Civil Court, Gadag, The Senior Civil Judge ,Ron , The III Addl civil Judge and JMFC, Gadag and The IV Addl Civil Judge and JMFC II , Gadag are established as per G.O. No. LAW 21 LCE 21, Bengaluru dated 14.06.2021.
    9. The Senior Civil Judge , Laxmeshwara is established as per G.O. No. LAW 132 LCE 2014, Bengaluru dated 25.05.2016

    TEMPORARY COURTS:

    1. The Senior Civil Judge , Mundargi is established as per GOB II-126/2017, dated 18.06.2018 and functioning as a itinerary Court.
    2. The Civil Judge and JMFC , Gajendragad is established as per GOB II-72/2015, dated 07.10.2015 and functioning as a itinerary Court.
    3. The Civil Judge and JMFC , Shirahatti is established as per GOB II-138/2015, dated 19.01.2015 and functioning as a itinerary Court.
    INFRASTRUCTURE:

    The New District Court Complex, Gadag is inaugurated on 26-04-2015 and situated beside D.C.Office, Hubli Road and in this new complex Six Courts are running successfully. And remaining Courts are running in the Old District Court Complex, Gadag situated at P.B.Road, Gadag.

    The Witness Lounge building is constructed in New District Court Complex for public purpose.

    The ADR building is also constructed and working in the campus of New District Court.

    The CRR building is constructed and running successfully.

    In District Court Gadag having following facilities :-

    1. Complaint / Suggestion Boxes are available for public at District Legal Services Authority, Gadag and all Taluka Legal Services Committee of Gadag District.
